Get to Know Dr. Alec Joy
Dr. Alec Joy grew up in Northwest Indiana. He attended Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Science and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine – Illinois.
Why Did He Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Joy's interest in dentistry got a jump start when he had his wisdom teeth removed. He was so impressed with the procedure he asked the doctor for a job the very same day. Hired as a summer intern, he was inspired by the opportunity to observe many different types of surgeries. Importantly, he witnessed first-hand the gratitude of patients after they received pain-relieving and smile-enhancing dental care.
Dr. Joy is committed to life-long learning that will bring advanced and effective dental treatments to his patients. He takes pride in providing his patients with comprehensive care to address their unique needs whether simple or complex. Upon graduation, Dr. Joy has taken multiple continuing education courses covering implants, implant supported dentures, guided bone regeneration, cosmetic restorations, clear aligner braces, treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, among many others. He is also a member of the prestigious Spear Education community where he takes courses regularly.
Dr. Joy resides in Naperville with wife and two kids. In his free time, Dr. Joy can be found spending time with his growing family, at the gym, the golf course, or rooting for the Chicago Blackhawks and Bears. A fun fact about Dr. Joy is that he played Junior A hockey before attending college.
